A pupil and teacher in class

From policies to behaviour management to career development - we asked teachers their opinions. Below is some of the results from our survey that 291 teachers responded to.

  • And the winner is: Scotland! The majority (55%) of respondents believe Scotland has the most effective school system in the United Kingdom. Coming in second is England with 33%, followed by Wales and Northern Ireland both receiving 6% of respondents votes.

  • Long gone are the assemblies of old - where a dry, raspy headmistress flexed her authority in an icy cold hall. Today's assemblies aim to be light and inspirational - informing students on a range of topics and encouraging them to become active citizens. But how does it do this? We asked teachers what they thought was the best source for material for assemblies and found out that the majority (37%) think it's personal experience. This is followed by books at 21% and the Internet at 18%. Surprisingly, only 6% think outside speakers are the best source and only 1% think charities are.

  • Do you think pupil to pupil mentoring schemes are effective? The majority (68%) of our respondents think it is sometimes. 28% of respondents think it is aways and 4% think it never is.

Do you have any views on these results? If so, why not share them by posting a message or contributing an article? You could win M&S vouchers.
